contents This data product contains post-processed GNSS measurements from an Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) expedition to Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard in summer 2023. We surveyed more than 900 satellite-based positions using a GNSS receiver at previous (2019) elevation measurement locations, bedrock outcrops, buildings, and control points by the Norwegian Mapping Authority Kartverket. Our measurements were located in Ny-Ålesund, the Bayelva area, and Kvadehuksletta. We post-processed our GNSS measurements based on data from the two long-term reference stations NYA1 and NYA2 and implemented a thorough quality control. Inter-annual thaw subsidence is an important metric for monitoring permafrost. However, permafrost thaw subsidence is difficult to observe due to its slow yet extensive character. This data product is suitable for validating digital elevation models and observing long-term elevation changes in the periglacial area near Ny-Ålesund. Please note that a direct comparison to the data from our previous campaign (Lange et al., 2020) or other GNSS measurements requires a different post-processing with the same datum for each measurement date.
