  • <p>The Smart Shopping Trolley for a Hands-Free Retail Experience with Automatic Billing is an innovative approach to transforming traditional shopping into an intelligent, efficient, and customer-centric experience. In conventional supermarkets, customers often face challenges such as pushing heavy trolleys, searching for products, and waiting in long billing queues. The proposed system addresses these limitations by integrating automation, sensing, and smart billing technologies into a single, user friendly solution. The smart trolley is designed to autonomously follow the customer throughout the shopping area using a combination of ultrasonic sensors, infrared sensors, and microcontroller-based control systems. These sensors enable the trolley to detect the customers movement and maintain a safe distance while avoiding obstacles in real-time. This hands-free functionality allows shoppers to move comfortably without manually pushing the trolley. For automatic billing, the system employs RFID or barcode technology to identify every product as it is placed into or removed from the trolley. The trolleys onboard microcontroller or embedded processor processes this information and continuously updates the total cost on an LCD or a mobile application interface. This eliminates the need for manual scanning at the checkout counter, significantly reducing waiting time and enhancing overall store efficiency.The prototype implementation involves key hardware components such as an Arduino/ESP32 microcontroller, motor driver modules, RFID readers, sensors, and DC motors for motion control. The system ensures smooth navigation, accurate product identification, and seamless billing synchronization. Additionally, the integration of wireless communication enables data transfer between the trolley and the central billing system or mobile app.</p> <p> </p>
