- <p>The present research paper is entitled as the influence of social media use on the academic achievement<br>of higher secondary students. Objectives: 1) To study the influence of social media use on the academic<br>achievement of higher secondary students of government and private schools, students of rural and<br>urban area as well as higher secondary male and female students. Hypotheses: 1) There is no significant<br>influence of social media use on the academic achievement of higher secondary students of government<br>and private schools, students of rural and urban area as well as higher secondary male and female<br>students. Methodology: In the present study, the researcher has used quantitative research design. The<br>researcher has employed survey method under descriptive research. Academic achievement has been<br>taken as the dependent variable while social media use is the independent variable in this study. In the<br>present study, the investigator adopted stratified random sampling technique. 12<br>government/government-aided higher secondary schools and 12 non-government/private higher<br>secondary schools were selected from district Haridwar randomly. The investigator selected 25<br>students from each school randomly using lottery method. In this way, the investigator selected the<br>required 600 secondary school students form 24 higher secondary schools randomly. Collected data<br>was analyzed using two-way analysis of variance. Findings: There has been found a significant<br>influence of school type, area and gender on the academic achievement of higher secondary students.<br>Higher secondary students of private schools had higher academic achievement as compared to the<br>higher secondary students of government schools. Higher secondary students of urban area had higher<br>academic achievement as compared to the higher secondary students of rural area. Higher secondary<br>male students who used social media average had higher academic achievement as compared to higher<br>secondary female students. There has been found a significant influence of social media use on the<br>academic achievement of higher secondary students. Higher secondary students of who used social<br>media average had higher academic achievement.</p>
