This article explores innovative strategies to enhance energy efficiency within Nigeria's construction and infrastructure sectors. By analysing current practices and identifying key barriers to energy efficiency, this study proposes actionable solutions tailored to the unique socio-economic context of Nigeria. The study highlights the importance of integrating renewable energy sources, improving building designs, and adopting energy-efficient technologies. It also emphasizes the need for robust policy frameworks and incentives that encourage stakeholders, government agencies, developers, and homeowners to prioritize energy conservation. Furthermore, we examine successful case studies from both local and international contexts that demonstrate the potential benefits of energy-efficient practices, including reduced operational costs, improved indoor air quality, and enhanced occupant comfort. Through collaborative efforts among various sectors, this article advocates for a holistic approach to energy efficiency that not only addresses environmental concerns but also promotes economic growth and social equity. Ultimately, enhancing energy efficiency in Nigeria's built environment is essential for fostering sustainable development, mitigating climate change impacts, and ensuring a resilient future for its growing population. By prioritizing these initiatives, Nigeria can pave the way for a more sustainable built environment that meets the needs of today while safeguarding resources for future generations.
