  • <p>As had demands on portable energy storing devices grown, flaws and limitations of the most popular Li-ion technology have become troublingly pressing – high price and weight, longevity under high power drain and safety risks are the main issues. Focus has fallen on inorganic solid-state batteries composed of ultra-thin layers, which address mentioned problems and seem to have potential to overall surpass Li-ion technology. Silicon anodes significantly exceed current graphite ones in capacity but suffer from high expansion during lithiation. Fibrous mat’s important benefits are its structure also serving as net of ion conducting pathways and flexibility.</p> <p><br>This work’s first aim was preparation of silica fibrous mats without carrier polymer by electrospinning and their characterization morphology (CLSM, SEM) and composition (XRF, XRD, XPS). The second aim was preparation of silica fibrous mats with carrier polymer doped by silicon microparticles and evaluation of their electrochemical properties.</p>
