Key Provisions of Section 6A</span></strong></p> <p><strong><span>(a) Confiscation of Essential Commodities</span></strong><span><br>If any essential commodity is seized under the ECA, <strong>the government has the authority to confiscate</strong> it. This provision is designed to prevent artificial scarcity created by hoarders.</span></p> <p><strong><span>(b) Seizure of Vehicles and Storage Facilities</span></strong><span><br>Any <strong>vehicle, vessel, animal, or storage facility</strong> used in the illegal transportation or storage of essential commodities can also be confiscated.</span></p> <p><strong><span>(c) Disposal of Confiscated Goods</span></strong><span><br>The government can <strong>sell or distribute</strong> the confiscated commodities to ensure they reach the general public at fair prices. This helps in stabilizing the market and preventing shortages.</span></p> <p><strong><span>(d) Exemption for Innocent Owners</span></strong><span><br>If the <strong>owner of a seized vehicle or storage facility proves that they were unaware</strong> of its illegal use, the property may not be confiscated. This protects innocent parties from unjust penalties.</span></p> <p><strong><span>(e) Legal Proceedings and Appeals</span></strong><span><br>Those affected by the confiscation have the right to appeal before the appropriate judicial authority.
