-
This is a presentation from Estonian LivingLab's demo events that took place in 2024, in collaboration with Latvian farmers. This version of the presentation has an extended text to serve as a catalogue of the drone technology capabilities provided to Latvian cattle farmers by the remote sensing team at the Estonian University of Life Sciences. This document explains the differences between fixed-wing and multirotor drones used in grassland mapping at the LivingLab during the CODECS project. Additionally, this document outlines a remote sensing process in three straightforward steps: (1) flight, (2) mapmaking, and (3) interaction with digital maps and subsequent data processing/analysis. Details of the relevant hardware and software illustrate each remote sensing stage. The drone technology has been used in the remote sensing process at the Living Lab to aid farmers in grassland management planning and local specialists in monitoring the conservation of semi-natural grasslands. In addition, the presented drone technology is a digital solution that was implemented during the CODECS project to evaluate the co-benefits of agricultural digitalisation.
