-
There is talk of a political settlement to the Yemeni crisis, especially after the statements of the UN envoy to Yemen last month. However, the question that arises here is what is the nature of the upcoming political settlement to resolve the Yemeni crisis, which will be agreed upon by the regional parties sponsoring this conflict? In revealing the nature of this settlement, it is worth highlighting the most prominent agendas prepared for the situation in Yemen, which have long shaped the paths of war and peace in Yemen throughout the eight years of fighting. This is the British vision for Yemen, which the British had previously disclosed in 2018, and which envisions a different fate for the political future in Yemen by recognizing the current situation. This article seeks to reveal the extent to which political and field efforts in Yemen are being devoted to implementing the British vision, particularly the recent developments following the Saudi-Iranian agreement, the unannounced talks between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, and the official talks currently underway between the Houthis on one side and Saudi Arabia and the legitimate government on the other, mediated by Oman.
