  • <p><strong><em><span>Abstract</span></em></strong></p> <h3><em><span>This research paper examines the geographical factors influencing the adoption of greenhouse technologies in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, India.<span>  </span>The Western Ghats of Maharashtra, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is characterized by its rich biodiversity and unique climatic conditions. Agriculture, a primary source of livelihood for the region's inhabitants, faces numerous challenges, including fluctuating climatic conditions and limited productivity from traditional farming practices. In recent years, greenhouse technologies have emerged as a sustainable solution, offering improved crop yields and resource efficiency. However, the adoption of these technologies is deeply influenced by geographical factors such as altitude, soil type, and climate, as well as socio-economic variables like market access and government support. This study explores the role of geography in shaping farmers' decisions to adopt greenhouse technologies in the Western Ghats. Specifically, it evaluates how topographical features, soil characteristics, and climatic conditions impact adoption rates. Additionally, the research investigates the interplay between socio-economic factors-such as proximity to markets, access to resources, and policy incentives-and technological uptake. The findings highlight the critical influence of geography on adoption patterns, revealing both barriers and opportunities in the transition to sustainable agricultural practices. The study identifies altitude-related temperature variations, soil fertility, and water availability as key determinants, alongside socio-economic factors such as financial support and market connectivity. This research contributes to the discourse on sustainable agriculture in hilly regions and offers insights for policymakers to devise targeted interventions that promote greenhouse adoption.</span></em></h3>
