  • FIGURE 2. Ancestry matrix estimated from 29,240 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for 94 individuals from the genus Fundulus. Evolutionarily significant units (ESUs) were identified from these ancestry coefficients and used in groupings in subsequent analyses. Within the F. catenatus species complex, six ESUs were identified and are indicated at the center; F. bifax and F. stellifer each represent additional ESUs. The ancestry matrix is paired with a maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree reconstructed from 34,958 SNPs using the TVM+F+G4 model of substitution and 1000 bootstrap replications. Numbers on nodes are bootstrap support values. Outgroup taxa were trimmed from the figure for clarity.
