- <p><span>The Sangam literature is a repository of the culture and lifestyle of the people of the Sangam period. It was the custom of the ancient Tamils to look at the Nimitham before starting any activity. Nimitham is a prediction. “Nimitham is the foreshadowing of the good and bad things that will happen later in life through some symbols. Nimitham is the basis of faith. Showing the connection between our actions and the events of nature that are beyond our control is the function of Nimitham. Thus, this article is an investigation into the Nimitham and beliefs that the people of the Sangam period adopted in their lives.</span></p>
