- The research presented in this paper focuses on the understanding and prediction of the failure mechanisms of angle-ply carbon fibre composite laminates with part-depth longitudinal notches, which is a key test configuration for demonstrating compliance with composite flaw tolerance requirements according to ISO 11439. The influence of notch depth and fibre angle on the tensile strength and failure mechanisms is experimentally analysed with the aid of both digital image correlation and X-ray computed tomography.
