•
Abstract

Academic anxiety can be defined as an overwhelming feeling of disturbance and distress among the students from the academic environment. In the post covid-scenario when the Indian education system has shifted to online learning, it is necessary to explore the impact of this sudden change on the life of the learners, particularly on their academic achievement. The present study is carried out to study the correlation between academic anxiety and academic anxiety. The researchers also explored the gender difference in relation to academic achievement and academic achievement of the senior secondary students. A sample of 241 senior secondary school students from various schools of Purulia district of West Bengal was selected. Standardized tool developed by Sharma & Shakir (2019) was used for measuring the level of academic anxiety of senior secondary school students. The previous class academic record i.e., class 10th result (final marks i.e., board result) of class 11th students was used for measuring the academic achievement of senior secondary school students. Results revealed that male students have significantly higher academic achievement than female students; female students have significantly higher levels of academic anxiety than male students. It was also found that there is a negative and significant correlation (r=-0.224) between academic anxiety and academic achievement of senior secondary school students.

Keywords:Academic Anxiety, Academic Achievement, Gender, Senior Secondary School Students
