-
This technical report documents the integration of a Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication system within the INCEpTION platform, designed to interoperate with the CLARIN Service Provider Federation. INCEpTION is a semantic annotation and knowledge management tool developed by the Technical University of Darmstadt and hosted within the CLARIN-EL research infrastructure. The report offers a detailed overview of the implementation process, presenting configuration steps, architectural decisions, and protocol-level considerations necessary for enabling secure, federated user access.

The report not only provides comprehensive technical guidance for system administrators and developers but also contextualizes the integration within broader European research infrastructure initiatives. It highlights the strategic value of adopting federated authentication in terms of usability, access control, compliance, and alignment with FAIR principles.

Structured in six main sections, the document covers the institutional context and motivations (Section 1), the technological environment (Section 2), the system architecture (Section 3), the practical configuration steps (Section 4), the validation process (Section 5), and future perspectives for scalability and reuse in projects such as ILC4CLARIN and H2IOSC (Section 6).
