•
Cuspidella gigantea Stechow, 1923

Stechow (1923d), J. Coll. Sci. Univ. Tokyo. 44, p. 8-9.

ZSM 20001061, 20043714 - 20043716 micro slides with colony pieces growing on Clytia gracilis (Sars), on the crab Halimus diacanthus (De Haan), Japan, Sagami Bay, leg. F. Doflein expedition, 1904.

Notes: A more detailed redescription based on the type material is given in Stechow (1923c, p. 131-132, fig S). Stechow (1932, p. 86-87) later changed the genus name to Laodicea and overwrote Cuspidella on the label. He also changed the identification of the substratum hydrozoan from Gonothyraea sp. to Clytia gracilis (Sars.). The label of the slides also says Croatella corrugata (Thornely) which occurs together with Cuspidella gigantea. None of the Halimus diacanthus (De Haan) crabs of the crustacean collection perfectly matches the collection data of the hydrozoan micro slides, so the substratum crab probably has been lost.
