-

Abstract

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea), an important legume for food and protein, faces production challenges due to land degradation from salinization, but soil fertility can be improved with NPK fertilizer. This study aimed to determine the optimum NPK 13-13-24 dosage to enhance growth and yield of Tuban groundnut varieties under NaCl stress. The research was conducted in the Screenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta from September-December 2024. The method used was a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design consisting of two treatment factors: the first factor was NPK 13-13-24 dosage (0, 1, 2 g.polybag-1), the second factor was NaCl concentration (0, 1000, 2000 ppm) and three replications. The monitored environmental condition was sunlight intensity, and initial soil analysis was conducted. The observed variables consisted of plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, number of branches, leaf area, days to flowering, number of flowers, root volume, root length, fresh weight of stover, dry weight of stover, number of filled pods, number of empty pods, number of seeds per plant, seed weight per plant, and weight of 100 seeds. Observational data were analyzed using analysis of variance, followed by Least Significant Difference Test at 5% error level and regression analysis. The results showed that NPK 13-13-24 at 1 g.polybag-1 did not significantly enhance the growth and yield of groundnut, except for root length. Salinity at NaCl concentration of 1000 ppm was still tolerated by the groundnut. There was an interaction between NPK 13-13-24 fertilizer and NaCl concentration on root volume, number of empty pods, and number of seeds.

Keywords

abiotic stress
legume
macronutrients
salinity
seed weight
