•
This Zenodo record contains the static STAC catalog for the HF-EOLUS ingestion of Puertos del Estado (PdE) buoy wind observations for the Vilano buoy, along with the helper SQL and scripts used to produce the data. The pipeline consolidates per‑buoy time series (wind speed and direction) into analysis‑ready GeoParquet and describes them with STAC for discovery and interoperability. For more details, see the repository.

Data Source

Puertos del Estado is providing the historical buoy data for the “Vilano” buoy (2011–2023). Data were retrieved via the Puertos del Estado Portus oceanographic data portal (https://portus.puertos.es) in November 2024. Puertos del Estado requests that it be acknowledged as the data source in any use of the data.

Processing

After being uploaded to AWS S3, Raw CSV observations for the Vilano buoy are converted to per‑buoy GeoParquet using AWS Athena CTAS (see ctas.sql). The orchestration script pipeline.sh leverages the HF‑EOLUS processing scripts archived at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17097948 to add geospatial metadata to the Parquet output and to generate the static STAC catalog.

Contents

ctas.sql: Athena CTAS statements for CSV→Parquet conversion

pipeline.sh: Orchestration script for ingestion and metadata generation

stac_properties_collection.json: STAC collection‑level properties

stac_properties_item.json: STAC item‑level properties

buoy_ingestion.tar.gz: Compressed archive of the STAC catalog and associated GeoParquet asset(s)

Acknowledgements

This work has been funded by the HF‑EOLUS project (TED2021‑129551B‑I00), financed by MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Union NextGenerationEU/PRTR - BDNS 598843 - Component 17 - Investment I3.
