Aurkibidea:
-
This replication package accompanies the paper “How Far From the Metaphor? The Diverse Understandings of Technical Debt in GitHub Issues”, presented at the Brazilian Symposium on Software Quality (SBQS 2025), São José dos Campos, SP, Brazil, November 4–7, 2025. The package provides all materials necessary to reproduce the procedures described in the study, which investigates how developers use and interpret the concept of Technical Debt (TD) in real software development discussions
on GitHub. It includes detailed methodological documentation of the inductive qualitative analysis process, based on Bowen’s three-stage reading model and the memoing and jotting techniques described by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The materials include the data collection protocol, selection and exclusion criteria, the dataset and its structure, the codebook template, and guidelines to ensure conceptual saturation and traceability. The replication package aims to promote methodological transparency, support reuse in similar contexts or languages, and foster comparative research on how the metaphor of Technical Debt is interpreted and communicated in software engineering practice.
