contents
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has been one of the pivotal drivers of
India’s economic transformation in the post-liberalization era. Over the
decades, FDI has played a crucial role in boosting industrial productivity,
generating employment, accelerating technological transfers, and integrating
India into the global value chain. However, the dynamics of FDI are
multifaceted and often influenced by macroeconomic conditions, sectoral
policies, and global trends. This book “Foreign Direct Investment in India:
Economic Impact and Regional Insights” emerges from our continuous
academic inquiry into understanding the changing contours of FDI and its
impact on the Indian economy.
Through this book, we have sought to trace the trend lines of FDI inflows,
explore their linkages with vital economic indicators, examine their sectoral
and regional destinations, and compare India’s position with other South
Asian nations. The journey of writing this book has been intellectually
enriching, involving extensive data analysis and critical evaluation of policy
frameworks. We sincerely hope this work will contribute to informed
academic debates, policy formulation, and further research on investment
dynamics in developing economies like India.
We are grateful to our students, colleagues, and our institution for their
constant encouragement and support throughout this work.
