  • <p>This supplementary material comprises an interactive computational notebook developed in Observable (<a href="https://observablehq.com">https://observablehq.com</a>), a web-based reactive programming environment for data analysis and visualization. The worfkflow comprises an interactive computational notebook implementing the complete analytical pipeline for "Latent Regimes and Externalisation Pathways of Material Footprint Decoupling: EU and MERCOSUR, 1994–2024." The Observable-based workflow processes panel data for 31 countries (EU-27 and MERCOSUR-4) over 1994–2024, integrating material flow accounts from the UNEP Global Material Flows Database with macroeconomic indicators. The notebook implements Tapio's eight-state decoupling taxonomy, pooled Hidden Markov Model estimation via Baum–Welch algorithm with Viterbi decoding, bootstrap confidence intervals, and panel regressions linking decoupling states to material externalisation gaps. Interactive visualizations include temporal area charts, country-specific heatmaps, emission probability matrices, Sankey transition diagrams, and typology scatter plots. Reactive parametric controls enable real-time exploration of temporal windows, normalization methods, regime specifications, and country selections. The workflow ensures full methodological transparency and independent replication, supporting verification, sensitivity analysis, and pedagogical demonstration of regime-based decoupling methods.</p>
