- <p>The State is no more than a gag for making harmless this carnivorous animal<br>that is man, and giving him the aspect of an herbivorous creature. Man, internally, is<br>a savage animal, a beast. If that is the case, the State represents a barrier that stops<br>man from harming himself and others. In such a view, the State is a blessing, a savior.<br>When the aim is protecting the people, dictating values, suspending representativeness and intervening into the markets tend to be viable options in order as to accomplish homogeneity and increase security.<br>Protection takes many forms, and it is the goal of this article to explore them.<br>Why do we need a State? Is the received protection worth losing individual liberty?<br>The investigation has as its method the hypothetical-deductive, and makes use of the<br>technic of bibliographical research as a way to analyze the figure of the State and the<br>rationalizations that are behind it. The initial hypothesis points the State as an institution produced by human fears and taking different forms as these fears diverge. This<br>analysis has as its focus understanding what State action really entails.</p>
