- <p><strong><span>Resumen: </span></strong><span>El turismo constituye un vector estratégico para comprender los procesos de integración regional en América del Sur, aunque su tratamiento a través del Mercousr ha sido históricamente irregular. Pese a los avances normativos, persiste una brecha en la historiografía que articule la evolución del turismo con los procesos institucionales y discursivos del bloque. Este trabajo tiene por objetivo analizar cómo la evolución histórica del turismo sudamericano se ha articulado con los procesos de institucionalización y proyección regional del MERCOSUR. Se adopta un enfoque interpretativista, mediante un estudio de caso sustentado en la revisión documental de normativas oficiales y en el análisis de 1.579 publicaciones de la prensa institucional recopiladas con webscraping en Python. Los hallazgos muestran un sector reconocido como multidestino y espacio cultural, pero con políticas fragmentadas y presencia discursiva intermitente. Se concluye que el turismo posee un potencial aún no consolidado para fortalecer la cohesión regional.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Palabras clave:</span></strong><span> Turismo, Integración Regional, MERCOSUR, Historia, Prensa Institucional</span></p> <p><strong><span lang="EN-US">Abstract: </span></strong><span lang="EN-US">Tourism constitutes a strategic vector for understanding the processes of regional integration in South America, although its treatment within MERCOSUR has been historically uneven. Despite regulatory advances, a gap remains in the historiography that links the evolution of tourism with the institutional and discursive processes of the bloc. This article seeks to examine how the historical evolution of South American tourism has been articulated through the processes of institutionalisation and regional projection of MERCOSUR. It adopts an interpretivist stance, employing a case study based on the documentary review of official regulations and the analysis of 1,579 publications from MERCOSUR’s institutional press, compiled through Python-mediated web scraping. The findings reveal a sector acknowledged as a multi-destination and cultural space, yet characterised by fragmented policies and intermittent discursive visibility.
