-
This release comprises the document – 2-Lumenveil Adaptive Lenses.pdf – presenting the Lumenvale Adaptive Lens (TEO-LCAL), a solid-state, no-moving-parts variable-focus optical system that combines thermo-optic and electro-optic modulation in nematic liquid-crystal layers to achieve continuous focal-length tuning over a 2.3× range (42–112 mm at 6 mm aperture) with sub-10 ms response and room-temperature operation.

The device exploits both temperature-dependent ordinary/extraordinary index shift and Kerr-effect field alignment, yielding refractive-index modulation ∆n ≈ 0.07–0.09. Design, simulation results, full fabrication protocol, and characterization procedures are provided. Prototype cost is estimated at $500–1 000 and build time 2–4 weeks with standard lab equipment.
