-
Abstract
Both physically and conceptually, the vastness of the sea and oceans gives rise to the local Bali saying "an endless
sea," serving as an endless wellspring of inspiration for creating artworks. This article aims to simplify this
vastness by delving deeper into the forms and meanings of sea and ocean representations in paintings. The
creative process involves these steps: 1) Getting mentally prepared; 2) making sketches; 3) playing with visual
elements; 4) letting the process flow naturally; 5) freeing oneself from limitations; 6) analyzing aesthetically and
therapeutically; and 7) creatively reflecting on one's inner thoughts. As a result, paintings of the sea and oceans
not only depict physical scenes but also explore deeper themes like life's journeys and the courage to confront
challenges. Through this simplification, the author invites art lovers to think and absorb the messages conveyed in
paintings about the profound vastness of the sea and oceans. This article explores how art stimulates imagination,
emotions, and an increased admiration for nature's beauty and complexity. The significance of this creation lies in
fostering contemplative artistic journeys that inspire us to explore, cherish, and conserve nature as an invaluable
treasure. This creative process acts as an inner summons to connect more profoundly with nature's energy, using
it as an ongoing source of inspiration for creative expression and an appreciation for life's essence, as we are an
integral part of nature. This analysis holds the potential to offer fresh viewpoints on understanding, expression,
and experiences that promote inner harmony with the environment through the representation of the sea and
oceans in paintings.
