Paramedic associations and regulatory bodies worldwide suggest that all paramedics maintain a personal continuing professional competency (CPC) or continuing professional development (CPD) portfolio; a reflective journal or diary is an essential part of this portfolio. This article introduces readers to the concept of reflective practice, and provides some practical suggestions.</p>
