- <p>This dataset contains quantitative and qualitative data generated from a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest study examining the impact of a Service-Learning intervention on the development of pre-analytical competencies in undergraduate medical students.</p> <p>The dataset includes anonymized Excel files with students’ pre- and post-intervention responses to a Likert-scale questionnaire assessing technical knowledge, patient safety awareness, collaborative skills, digital competencies, and professional responsibility related to the pre-analytical phase of the clinical laboratory.</p> <p>Additionally, the dataset includes observational rubric scores evaluating technical pre-analytical competencies (patient identification, venipuncture, sample handling, labeling, documentation, transport, and storage), as well as aggregated qualitative data derived from a semi-structured expert interview.</p> <p>Data were collected from 34 second-semester medical students at a university in Ecuador during the 2024–2025 academic period. All data have been anonymized and are provided for research and educational purposes related to medical education, laboratory medicine, and patient safety.</p>
