In order to obtain reliable results, the interviews were conducted in-person. The aim of the interviews was to examine the researchers' broadly understood language practices in communicating research results, their attitude towards publishing in foreign languages, and the use of various forms of knowledge dissemination.

The following dataset consists of 23 informal and semi-structured interviews conducted with researchers representing the humanities and social sciences in nine European countries. A total of 32 researchers participated in the study, but 9 did not consent to the publication of anonymised transcripts of the recordings. In order to ensure complete anonymity, the names of languages other than English, which was the basis for communication with the respondents, were removed from the transcripts. Furthermore, the sections of the interview that contained identifying information were marked in red, including first names, surnames, dates, places, anecdotes, years, book titles, life situations, and facts related to private life. All of them were removed.

Interviews took place between June and December 2025

Project funded within MINIATURA 8 by NCN | National Science Centre Poland; Project id: PW240130300000000

Project approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the University of Silesia in Katowice; decision of: KEUS/O/30.12.2024
