- <p><em><span>Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) represent a civilizational legacy encompassing philosophy, science, medicine, mathematics, linguistics, arts, ethics, and ecological wisdom that evolved in India over millennia. Traditionally, this knowledge was transmitted through oral traditions, the Gurukul system, apprenticeship, and experiential learning rooted in value-based education. However, the rapid expansion of higher education, globalization, and digital transformation has significantly altered modes of knowledge dissemination. In recent years, technological interventions such as digital repositories, online learning platforms, artificial intelligence, learning management systems, and virtual classrooms have emerged as influential tools in reshaping how IKS is preserved, taught, and accessed. This paper examines the comparative dimensions of traditional and modern approaches to promoting Indian Knowledge Systems in higher education, with a specific focus on the role of technology. Using secondary data drawn from academic literature, policy documents such as the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, institutional reports, and international studies, the analysis explores how technology has enhanced accessibility, documentation, interdisciplinary engagement, and learner participation in IKS-related education. At the same time, the study critically reflects on concerns regarding loss of experiential depth, commodification of indigenous knowledge, and ethical challenges arising from excessive technologization. The findings suggest that while traditional systems ensure authenticity, ethical grounding, and holistic learning, modern technological tools significantly improve scalability, inclusivity, and preservation of IKS. The paper argues that technology should function as an enabler rather than a replacement of traditional pedagogical values. A blended framework that integrates traditional wisdom with modern digital tools is essential for sustaining and promoting IKS within contemporary higher education. The study contributes to ongoing academic and policy discussions by emphasizing culturally sensitive, ethically guided, and context-aware integration of technology for the meaningful promotion of Indian Knowledge Systems.</span></em></p> <p> </p>
