•
South Sudan, a country in East Africa, has faced significant challenges in preserving its rich intellectual heritage due to historical conflicts and recent political instability. The approach is conceptual, drawing on existing literature and theoretical frameworks from the field of intellectual heritage studies, particularly focusing on archival practices in conflict-affected regions. This theoretical framework underscores the crucial importance of libraries and archives as custodians of intellectual heritage, especially in contexts where memory maintenance is threatened by external factors. Recommendations include advocating for dedicated funding mechanisms, fostering community engagement in preservation efforts, and establishing partnerships with international organizations to enhance South Sudan's archival capacity.
