- <p><strong>Resumo:</strong> Este trabalho pretende apontar algumas das práticas preservacionistas levadas a cabo por intelectuais pau- listas durante as comemorações do VI Centenário da Cidade de São Paulo, tendo como foco a restauração da "Casa do Bandeirante", conduzida pelo arquiteto Luiz Saia entre os anos de 1954 e 1955. Nesta oportu- nidade, o trabalho de preservação não se restringiu somente à recuperação da obra arquitetônica, mas também permitiu que se reconstruísse o discurso de uma especificidade regional, que evocava mais uma vez a figura do bandeirante como símbolo paulista.</p> <p><strong>Abstract:</strong> The present work intends to show some of the preservations' experiences carried by intellectuals during the IV Centennial of São Paulo having the restauration of the "Casa do Bandeirante" (conducted by architect Luiz Saia between 1954 and 1955) as the main focus. On this opportunity preservation work was not re- stricted itself to restore only the architectonic building but it also allowed to reconstruct the assertion of a regional specificity which brought the figure of the "bandeirante" as a symbol of Sao Paulo.</p>
