•
Workplace bullying has turned out to be a critical problem for many organizations. It affects both, the
performance of the organization as well as the satisfaction of the workers. This study aims to examine
the prevalence of workplace bullying and its effect on the productivity and satisfaction of workers in the
higher education sector of Saurashtra region in India. The study adopts a mixed method approach
consisting of primary and secondary data. It utilizes a systematic questionnaire to collect primary data
from the academic staff members of eleven districts of Saurashtra.
The data was processed using advanced statistical tools. The results of the data analysis indicate a
strong negative correlation between workplace bullying and job satisfaction as well as employee
productivity. It was found that workers who experienced a higher incidence of bullying reported low
productivity, concentration, and job satisfaction. However, no disparities were found in the nature of
bullying experienced by genders in the work environment.
The report highlights the need for immediate action to be taken by institutions to curb bullying in the
work environment and create a positive work environment.
The research provides useful implications for management in higher education institutions, contributing
to the body of knowledge in organizational behavior.
