-
This review offers a critical assessment of the 2025 Koç University Press Turkish edition of Peter Thonemann’s The Hellenistic Age: A Very Short Introduction, translated by Aymesey Albay. Bearing in mind the conventions of the popular synthesis genre, this paper examines anachronisms arising from the author’s analytical approach, as well as terminological discrepancies and structural flaws introduced during the translation and editorial phases. While the original text aims to outline the Hellenistic Period for a lay audience, it simultaneously displays a selective narrative heavily shaped by the author's academic preoccupations. Ultimately, the analysis reveals that the Turkish translation requires further refinement to achieve terminological stability and adhere to the stylistic norms of the target language.
