-
Modern autonomous systems remain constrained by fragmented architectures, brittle control stacks, and a lack of unified self‑governance. As embodied AI expands into robotics, industrial automation, and mission‑critical environments, the absence of a coherent autonomy substrate limits reliability, safety, and long‑horizon behavior.

This paper introduces SMK‑1, a conceptual architecture for a Sovereign Master Kernel that unifies perception, action, introspection, and arbitration within a single continuous autonomy substrate. SMK‑1 is presented as a high‑level framework and design philosophy rather than an implementation, enabling discussion of its principles and capabilities without disclosing proprietary mechanisms. We outline the motivation, conceptual structure, and potential applications of sovereign kernel architectures, and demonstrate early behavioral results from prototype embodiments.
