Inhoudsopgave:
  • <p>This article, published by CIGEM GemLab (Canadian Institute of Gemology), examines how Botswana's 2026 diamond policy reframes natural diamonds as instruments of national sovereignty, Indigenous stewardship and multigenerational value. Written for a Gen Z readership, the piece documents the role of Debswana (the 50/50 partnership between Government of Botswana and De Beers), the 2025 diamond sales framework presented by Minister of Minerals and Energy Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, and the positioning of natural Botswana diamonds ahead of Mining Indaba 2026. The article contrasts the finite-origin ethical framework of Botswana natural diamonds with the expanding lab-grown diamond market and discusses implications for gemmological grading, traceability and consumer choice among younger buyers.
