•
This study examines the role of education in promoting social mobility among marginalized communities in rural India. It is based on primary data collected from 40 rural students belonging to socially and economically disadvantaged groups. The research focuses on key indicators such as access to education, first-generation learning, awareness of government schemes, aspirations for higher education, and financial constraints. The findings reveal that a majority of students have access to schooling and display strong aspirations for higher education. A significant proportion of respondents are first-generation learners, indicating gradual educational expansion. However, limited awareness of welfare schemes and persistent financial barriers continue to restrict educational progress. The study highlights that education has positively influenced confidence, awareness, and social status among students. At the same time, structural inequalities still hinder equal opportunities. The paper concludes that while education serves as a powerful tool for social upliftment, effective policy implementation and targeted support are essential to ensure inclusive and sustainable social mobility.
