-
Tuberculosis (TB) continues to be a major public health concern in developing countries,
particularly India, which accounts for the highest global burden of the disease. Although
extra-pulmonary tuberculosis constitutes a significant proportion of TB cases, oral
manifestations are rare and often overlooked. Gingival tuberculosis is an extremely
uncommon presentation and may clinically mimic common periodontal conditions, resulting
in diagnostic delay. This report presents a rare case of tubercular gingivitis in a 21-year-old
female with isolated gingival enlargement and no systemic symptoms. Histopathological
examination confirmed the diagnosis. This case highlights the importance of considering
tuberculosis in the differential diagnosis of persistent gingival enlargement, especially in TB
endemic countries where oral TB prevalence data remain scarce.
