Rooted in Dharmic ethics, Indian knowledge traditions provide a holistic framework encompassing values such as dharma (duty), karma (action), ahimsa (non-violence), and lokasangraha (collective welfare). The study examines how these principles can contribute to ethical AI design, governance, and deployment. It further analyses the role of AI in digitizing, preserving, and validating traditional knowledge across domains such as medicine, linguistics, and ecology. While integration offers significant benefits including sustainability, inclusivity, and cultural preservation, it also presents challenges related to data standardization, epistemological differences, and ethical concerns. The paper proposes a multidisciplinary and ethically grounded framework for leveraging AI to strengthen Indian knowledge systems while ensuring cultural sensitivity and responsible innovation.

Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, Indian Knowledge Systems, Dharmic Ethics, Sustainability, Ayurveda, Digitization, Ethical AI
