-
Stenobabinskaia chenjieae sp. nov.

Figs 4, 5

Diagnosis.

RP stem medially fused with RA in both fore- and hind wings [connected with a short ra-rp crossvein in S. punctata]; one slightly straight oblique presectoral crossvein present in both fore- and hind wings [more sigmoid in S. punctata]; MP 2 branches in the hind wing are all marginally forked [mostly simple in S. punctata].

Description.

Gender unknown as abdomen not preserved. Partly preserved body 4.14 mm long; head 1.00 mm long, 1.60 mm wide; antenna length 12.85 mm; diameter of compound eye 1.10 mm; partly preserved forewing 17.2 mm long, 3.25 mm wide; hind wing 17.2 mm long, 2.35 mm wide.

Head orthognathous, subtriangular. Compound eyes large, semi-globular. Antenna filiform, with dense short setae; scape much wider and longer than pedicel; flagellomere much shorter and narrower than scape and pedicel. Wings elongated, transparent; forewing spots present on distal part of costal and subcostal space; hind wing spots present on costal space, mostly on some crossveins of RP space, joint of MP 2 and CuA. Forewing: Tip not preserved. Costal space approximately four times as wide as subcostal space, but much narrower than radial space, with 25 simple crossveins on proximal 3 / 4 and 34 crossveins on distal 1 / 4, mostly forked marginally; subcostal crossvein absent; 13 presectoral crossveins present, one of them inclined proximad; 9 radial crossveins preserved; MA diverging from RP distad separating point of RA and RP + MA; RP stem medially fused with RA for a short distance; RP preserved with 10 branches; two to three incompletely preserved gradate series of crossveins present; MP long and almost straight, almost run parallel with CuA stem, with 22 crossveins between MP and CuA, no oblique vein (i. e., stem of MP 2) present; MP pectinately branched distally, with 16 branches, mostly marginally forked; CuA pectinately branched into ten branches from its distal 1 / 3, mostly simple; CuP + A 1 long, pectinately branched into at least 16 simple branches and one distal-most forked branch; termination of CuP + A 1 distal of branching point of RP and MA. Hind wing: Costal space strongly narrowed, slightly wider than subcostal space, but narrower than radial space, with 26 simple crossveins on proximal 3 / 4, and ca. 40 crossveins and veinlets of ScP + RA on distal 1 / 4, mostly forked marginally; subcostal crossvein absent; 12 presectoral crossveins present, one of them inclined posteriad; RP + MA originated from R proximal to midpoint of wing; 12 radial crossveins present; RP stem fused with RA during RP 2 and RP 3; RP pectinately branched from its proximal 1 / 5, with 11 branches, mostly simple, but RP 2 bearing a marginal fork, RP 3 bifurcated at about its distal 1 / 3, RP 7 deeply forked at its proximal 1 / 6 (anterior branch deeply forked proximal to midpoint, posterior branch simple), RP 8 and RP 9 fused distally, RP 10 and RP 11 fused into a small loop; two gradate series of crossveins present, with one incomplete series of four crossveins present at proximal half and one of seven crossveins present at distal half; MA only with a marginal fork; MP 1 long and nearly straight, pectinately branched from distal 1 / 4, with 19 branches, mostly bearing a marginal fork; 16 crossveins present between MP 1 and MP 2; MP 2 pectinately branched, with eight branches and all of them bifurcated; CuA long, proximally fused with A 1, pectinately branched with 17 short and simple branches; 14 cua-cup crossveins present.

Legs slender, with dense short setae. Profemur stout, with dense short setae; tibia with densely short setae and symmetrically spaced spinous setae along the outer and inner sides; a paired tibial spurs present, with sharp tips; tarsus 5 - segmented, tarsomere 1 slightly longer than tarsomeres 2–4, tarsomeres 2–4 equal length; tarsomere 5 longest, almost as long as combined length of tarsomeres 2–4; pretarsal claws curved, equal in length and shape, with a bilobed arolium; two long setae present on 5 tarsomere and slightly shorter than claws.

Etymology.

The new species is dedicated to Mrs. Jie Chen, a renowned tattoo artist, in recognition of her friendship with the author Mr. De Zhuo.

Type material.

Holotype: BXAM -BAB-25006: amber piece preserving a complete male of Stenobabinskaia chenjieae sp. nov.; it is polished in the form of a flattened pentagon cabochon, clear and transparent, with length × width approximately 46.38 × 38.81 mm, height approximately 10.14 mm.
