- This large statue is a depiction of Amphitrite, Poseidon's wife and the goddess and queen of the sea. She was the main of the Nereids and was often represented among sea creatures, just like in this piece. The author, Andreas Schluter, was a German architect and sculptor, known for his architectural decorative sculptures and the equestrian statue of Elector Frederick William in Berlin.
