| contents | <p class="MsoNormal">Idiomatic expressions, proverbs, and sayings are closely linked to the culture and history of a particular nation, making them difficult to understand by other nations. While some linguists emphasize that such lexical items are impossible to translate, other researchers have proposed various translation methods to address this issue. This article specifically examines this problem between the English and Uzbek languages. This article explores the issue of translating Uzbek proverbs used in literary works into English. Due to cultural and linguistic differences, translating proverbs used in literary works from Uzbek to English presents unique challenges. During the research, literal translation, sense-for-sense translation, cultural adaptation, using equivalent proverbs, and explanatory translation methods were applied, and more than 10 Uzbek proverbs were translated into English.</p> |
