- On this type of drinking cup (kantharos) the basic form is a kalyx-cup but with higher walls and a more flaring mouth. Examples of this type of cup have been found in central and northern Greece and the Ionian islands off the west coast. As the 4th century progressed, cups tended to become taller and slimmer.
