-
This article examines the processes of artistic synthesis in the decorative and applied arts of the East. Based on an analysis of objects from the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A)—Timurid metalwork, Islamic lusterware, and export porcelain—the mechanisms of intercultural diffusion of forms and meanings are identified. Particular attention is paid to the transformation of utilitarian objects into mediators of a global dialogue between China, Iran, Central Asia, and Europe. The research employs the comparative-typological method and art historical analysis to trace the evolution of the artistic language within the context of transnational trade and cultural ties.
