•
This study assessed the land use and land cover (LULC) changes in Talavera from 2020 to 2025 using Geographic Information System (GIS)-based spatial analysis. The study aimed to identify land cover categories, determine their area and percentage distribution, and analyze spatial changes and trends within the municipality. A descriptive-comparative research design was employed using pre-classified LULC datasets obtained from Geoportal Philippines and processed through QGIS. Spatial analysis techniques, including area computation and post-classification change detection, were applied to compare land cover conditions between 2020 and 2025.

Findings revealed that annual crops remained the dominant land cover in both years, although agricultural land decreased by 66.08 hectares, while built-up areas increased by 71.17 hectares. Spatial trends indicated that urban expansion was concentrated near transportation corridors and existing settlements. The observed changes suggest a gradual transition from agricultural to urban land uses which may be associated with increasing development activities and accessibility. The findings demonstrate the usefulness of GIS-based spatial analysis in supporting land use planning and environmental management.
