Bot.</i> 14: 153. 1994) discuss the reasons for their 1993 choice of type. Brullo & al. (in <i>Webbia</i> 54: 55. 1999) accepted 1128.30 (LINN) as type, wrongly attributing the choice to Hedge & Yaltirik in Davis, <i>Fl. Turkey</i> 7: 663 (1982). This is in any case a Kalm collection from North America (not Europe as indicated in the protologue), and is identifiable as <i>Q. alba</i> L. It is not accepted as original material, and the choice of the Burser material as type in any case has priority.</p>
