  • <p><b><i>Daemonorops nuichuaensis</i> (A.J.Hend., N.K.Ban & N.Q.Dung) A.J.Hend., <i>comb. nov</i>.</b></p><p>Basionym:— <i>Calamus nuichuaensis</i> Henderson <i>et al.</i> (2008: 196).</p><p>Type:—VIETNAM. Ninh Thuan: Ninh Hai District, Nui Chua National Park, near summit of mountain, forest on rocky slopes, 11 ° 48 ’N, 109°10’E, ca. 800 m, 27 July 2007, <i>A. Henderson, N.K. Ban, & A R. Cui 3468</i> (holotype: HN!, isotypes: K! NY!).</p><p>Additional material studied:— VIETNAM. Ninh Thuan Province: Ninh Hai District, Nui Chua National Park, 11.80N, 109.16E, ca. 800 m, 26 Oct 2009, <i>Henderson et al. 3646</i> (HN, NY).</p><p>The transfer of these two species brings the number of <i>Daemonorops</i> in Vietnam to five: <i>D. jenkinsiana</i> (Griffith) Martius (1853: 327), <i>D. poilanei</i> Dransfield (2001: 663), <i>D. mollispina</i> Dransfield (2001: 662), <i>D. fissilis</i> and <i>D. nuichuaensis</i>. All but <i>D. jenkinsiana</i> are endemic to Vietnam and belong to section <i>Piptospatha</i>. Recent field work revealed another two species new to science, making a total of seven <i>Daemonorops</i> for Vietnam.</p>
