Nineteen lines in a page.</p> <p>شرح حكمة العين</p> <p>A Commentary (ممزوج) on Najm al-dîn Abu Bakr (sic,<em>alias</em> Abu’l-Hasan ‘Ali ) b.’Omar <em>Kâtibî Kazwînî’s</em> (d. A.H. 675) حكمة العين , or System of Metaphysics and Physics; by Shams al-dîn Muḥammad b. Mubârak Shâh Bukhâri, commonly called MÎRAK. Cf. Ḥ. Kh. iii. 103; Bible. Sprenger. 1809; <a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6827074">Cat. St. Petersb.</a> 75; and Cat. Lugd. iii. 367.</p> <p>The preface begins: اما بعد حمد الله فاطر ذوات العقول النورية .... فان المولى العلامة ملك المحققين افضل المتاخرين شمس الملة والدين محمد بن مباركشاه البخارى برّد الله مضجعه يقول قد التمس منى بعض اخواني الخ.</p> <p>The author says in it that his commentary contains, besides extracts from other works, the entire glosses (حواشي) of <em>Ḳuṭb al-dîn Shîrâzi</em> (d. A.H. 710).</p> <p>The first part of Kâtibî’s work (القسم الاول في العلم الالهي) consists of four مقالة ; viz.: 1. في الامور العامة</p> <p>(fol.5); 2.في العلل و المعلولات (fol. 57<em>v</em>.) ; 3.في احكام الجواهر و الاعراض (fol.69) ; 4.في اثبات واجب الوجود (fol.130). The second part (في العلم الطبيعي) comprises five مقالة : 1.في احكام الجسم (fol. 150<em>v</em>.) ; 2.في مباحث الحركة (fol.163) ; 3. في احكام الافلاك (fol. 190) ; 4.(fol.224), without title , on the elements, etc.; 5. (fol.261) في النفس النباتية و الحيوانية .</p> <p>The greater part of this MS. (from fol.76 to the end) is well written, by ‘Abdallah b. Mûsa. Date, Saturday, 15th Sha’bân, 993. Red Lines round the pages.</p> <p>The first portion is supplied by a different hand. It has numerous marginal notes, which are chiefly extracts from the glosses on this commentary by Saiyid Sharîf.</p> <p>Fol.3 ought to be placed after fol.7.
