- <p><i>Carcharhinus brachyurus</i> (Günther, 1870).</p><p>Copper Shark or <b>Narrowtooth Shark</b>. To 3.25 m (10.7 ft) TL (Randall <i>et al.</i> 1990). Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to central Japan (Yoshino and Aonuma in Nakabo 2002); Santa Cruz Island, southern California (Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California) to central Mexico (Allen and Robertson 2015); Colombia to Peru (Allen and Robertson 2015), including Gulf of California and Islas Galápagos (Grove and Lavenberg 1997). Depth: intertidal to 360 m (1,181 ft) (Compagno in Carpenter 2003). Naylor <i>et al.</i> (2012) suggest that <i>C. brachyurus</i> may be comprised of several species; one from the Indo-Pacific and perhaps another from the Atlantic and southern Africa region.</p>
