Viets (1926a, b); Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala—“ <i>Hygrobates karekari</i> ” Cook (1967); West Bengal—Lundblad (1969); “ <i>H. falcipalpis</i>, <i>H. karekari</i> ” Prasad (1974).</p><p>Remarks: According to Cook (1967), Viets's record of <i>Hygrobates falcipalpis</i> from India should be regarded as tentative, because in the species group to which <i>falcipalpis</i> belong females are difficult to identify. Lundblad (1969) synonymized <i>Hygrobates karekari</i> Cook, 1967 with <i>H. falcipalpis</i>.</p><p>Habitat: Ponds and slowly flowing streams.</p><p>Distribution: India.</p>
