The male from Sierra Madre, however, presents clearly marked yellow spots on the vertex, above the antennal sockets, and on the pronotal collar; also, the male from Mindanao shows reduced spots on the vertex and above the antennal sockets. The presence or absence of these spots should therefore not be regarded as discriminatory between E. panaiensis and E. hauxwellii (Bingham). It is possible that past records of E. hauxwellii from the Philippine Islands should be referred to E. panaiensis.
