-
Inostemma laminata Kieffer, 1913a: 29.

Current status. Inostemma laminatum

Syntype ♀, Kenya (former British East Africa), Taita Hills (massif des Wataïta), Bura Village (MNHN). Labels. Inostemma laminata K./ Type 61. ♀. [syntype ♀].

Remarks. The syntype was found with other type material described by Kieffer (1913a) (Notton 2004). It was in a tube of alcohol with the label and has been mounted on a card point and labelled with the original label. It is complete except for the left hind leg; the head is broken off but present and has a crack right across the front. The wings are very dirty. Vlug (1995) says this species was originally described in Ceratopsilus but it was actually described as Inostemma laminata by Kieffer (1913a — imprint publication date 15 August 1913) and only later transferred to Ceratopsilus by Kieffer (1913b – imprint publication date December 1913). Vlug (1995) has the spelling laminatus, however it should be laminatum since the ending of Inostemma is directly transliterated from the Greek neuter noun στεμμα, and so the genus has neuter gender (ICZN 1999: Art. 30.1.2; Hirashima 1984). The generic names Ceratopsilus Kieffer, 1913b and Cerastopsilus: Kieffer, 1913b are multiple original spellings, the former is the correct original spelling following the first reviser (Kieffer, 1926).
